Equi-NP eradication

Equi-NP- Deletion (also: Equi-NP-Deletion, from Latin aequus 'equal' and deletio 'deletion') denotes in generative transformation grammar a transformation that contains a noun phrase (NP) postulated in the deep structure in an embedded subordinate clause ( see hypotax ) under reference conditions , d. H. if the referent is identical to that of the main clause, it is deleted.
