Ali Güngörmüş

Ali Haydar Güngörmüş (born October 15, 1976 in Pageou near Tunceli , Turkey ) is a German - Turkish chef and TV chef .

Life

Güngörmüş was born the middle of seven children. The family had a small farm. The father worked as a welder in Munich since the mid-1960s . In 1986 the woman moved with the children to her father in Germany, where Ali graduated from secondary school . Against the opposition of his parents and family, he trained as a cook. From 2000 he was temporarily head chef in the trendy restaurant Lenbach , then he became a young chef with Karl Ederer in the 1-star restaurant Glockenbach in Munich. Ederer subsequently became his sponsor and found him a job in the 2-star hotel Tantris and in the Swiss rooms in Wertheim .

In 2005 he opened the Le Canard Nouveau restaurant in Hamburg-Othmarschen . In November 2006 his restaurant was awarded a Michelin star . He is the only chef born in Turkey to date whose restaurant has received a Michelin star. At the end of 2016, Güngörmüş handed over the position of head chef to Florian Pöschl, but remained co-owner of Le Canard Noveau .

In 2014, he also opened the Pageou restaurant in Munich in the former rooms of the Ederer . Pageou is the name of the village in eastern Anatolia where Ali Güngörmüş spent the first ten years of his life.

Güngörmüş can be seen regularly as a TV cook in the NDR afternoon program tipps & trends and as a juror and presenter in the ZDF program Die Küchenschlacht . He also appeared in the show Lanz cooks! on, which was also broadcast on ZDF .

For Fatih Akın's homeland film Soul Kitchen (2009) Ali Güngörmüş coached the actor Birol Ünel , who is an eccentric cook in the internationally awarded comedy . A sequence of scenes at the beginning of the film takes place in Le Canard Nouveau .

From November 11, 2013, until the appointment, he was the juror in the ZDF show Topfgeldjäger with Alexander Herrmann and was thus Frank Rosin's successor . Before that, he had been a juror several times in the duels between the former presenter Steffen Henssler and the other juror Rosin.

Since May 11, 2014 he has been one of the professional chefs in the VOX programs Grill den Henssler (11 appearances) and Grill den Profi . He also competed in the kitchen duel against Tim Mälzer in the episode of the Kitchen Impossible program, which was broadcast for the first time on February 3, 2019 .

Since January 15, 2019, he has been in the new HR television program Koch's anders - Hessian cuisine rediscovered as a guest in Hessian households. Here he tastes typical regional dishes and then has to reinterpret them. 12 episodes had been produced by the end of June 2020.
