Grill den Profi was a cooking show on the TV channel VOX that was broadcast from October 15, 2017. The broadcast was a revision of the Grill den Henssler format , which it replaced.
After Steffen Henssler returned to VOX and Grill den Henssler continued, the format was discontinued.
format
The content of the program largely corresponded to that of Grill den Henssler : In each show, a professional chef competed against three celebrities . The aim was to cook a total of four courses - the improv course, in which five ingredients (seven in season 1) had to be combined into one dish in eight minutes , the starter, the main course and the dessert. The dishes that had to be prepared within a given time were not known to the professional chef. The celebrities were supported by a mentor cook. As in the first seasons of Grill den Henssler , he was able to give hints from a high seat. For the last 90 seconds he was allowed to help the celebrities prepare the plate ; the taste was forbidden him.
The dishes were judged by the same jury as last at Grill den Henssler , consisting of manager Reiner Calmund , star chef Maria Groß and sommelier Gerhard Retter . The winner was whoever received the most points for his dish. The winner of the round received € 4,000 for a good cause (if the celebrity wins - he himself will receive € 3,000 and the mentor chef € 1,000).
There was again a “kitchen competition” between the cooking courses, in which three further evaluation points could be earned. Whoever cooked up or earned the most points in the end won the show.

Like the previous format, “Grill den Profi” was produced by ITV Studios Germany . The broadcast was recorded in the Magic Media Company studios in Cologne-Ossendorf .

Despite ratings far below those of the previous format, a second season was broadcast in spring 2018, but only the three chefs Nelson Müller , Ali Güngörmüş and Roland Trettl competed three times each.

Summer special 2018
Another three-part summer special was announced for summer 2018. In the run-up to the last scheduled recording of the summer special, a viewer in the audience died, whereupon the broadcast was canceled. At the beginning of August 2018, VOX announced that a possible new recording would be dispensed with and the number of special editions would be reduced to two.

As the first chef in the history of the show format, Christian Lohse succeeded in Show 6 on November 19, 2017, with a three-digit score with 101 points . Nelson Müller exceeded this number of points with 103 points in issue 11 without having received a single ten. A total of 200 points were distributed in this program - also a new record. In the 13th episode, Roland Trettl's record was exceeded again with 108 points , while a total of 214 points were distributed in the broadcast. In the same show, the celebrity team was also able to achieve a three-digit score for the first time. Ali Güngörmüş also received 108 points in issue 15.
Laura Wontorra received 29 points in issue 8 of December 3, 2017 for her soufflé in the dessert course, making it the highest individual rating ever. Wolfgang Lippert also received the same number of points for his pyre as dessert in issue 13 on May 13, 2018 and Ali Güngörmüş for his snow and egg dessert in program 14 on May 20, 2018 September 2018 for his main course with cod.
Annett Möller, who has already won three times against Steffen Henssler, scored a draw against Christian Lohse with her fourth participation in broadcast 6 on November 19, 2017.
Audience ratings
The majority of the ratings from Grill den Profi were below the VOX station average of 7.2% in the advertising-relevant target group of 14 to 49 year olds.

Trivia
- On the occasion of the RTL Spendenmarathon 2017, VOX donated 500 euros for each point earned by each team in the program on November 19, 2017. Christian Lohse scored 101 points and the celebrities 93 points in the show. That came to 97,000 euros. In addition, there was 1,500 euros that Annett Möller had earned from her draw in the starter. A total of 98,500 euros were cooked. VOX increased the donation amount to 120,000 euros.
