Roland Trettl (born July 3, 1971 in Bozen , South Tyrol ) is a German - Italian cook and author of cookbooks .

Education and career

Trettl began his apprenticeship as a chef in 1987 at the Parkhotel Holzner in his hometown of Oberbozen on the Renon and continued it in Bozen in the Amadé restaurant. Then Trettl stopped off at Eckart Witzigmann's Munich restaurant Aubergine and at the Tantris restaurant before returning to the Amadé.

From 1997 to 2001 he was head chef at Witzigmann's restaurant Ca's Puers on Mallorca , which was awarded one star by the Michelin Guide in 2000 . After international assignments, Trettl worked for six months in the Marine Terrace restaurant in Tokyo as a food and beverage trainer.

From May 2003 to the end of 2013 Trettl worked as Executive Chef in the Ikarus restaurant in Hangar-7 at Salzburg Airport . Under the patronage of Eckart Witzigmann, Trettl presented chefs from all over the world on a monthly basis. The Ikarus restaurant, run by Trettl, has been recognized in both the Falstaff Restaurant Guide and Gault-Millau Austria and received a Michelin star in 2004 .

Since 2018 Trettl has been co-owner of the Spiceworld spice factory in Salzburg, which sells spices and spice blends.

In 2013 and 2015 Trettl made an appearance as a guest judge on the Sat.1 cooking talent show The Taste . From 2016 to 2018 he replaced Tim Mälzer as a juror from the fourth to the sixth season . On March 13, 2016, he competed as Mälzer's opponent in the VOX cooking show Kitchen Impossible , and from then on he was seen in several episodes of the series, including all Christmas editions. In addition, the two moderated the Sat.1 program Karawane der Kochs . In 2017 and 2018 he was seen in several episodes of the cooking show Grill the professional . Since 2018 he has been the host of the VOX Dating - Documentary First Dates - A table for two .

Private

Trettl is married and has a son. He lives with his family in Salzburg.
