Ekaterina Leonova

Ekaterina "Ekat" Leonova ( Russian Екатерина Юрьевна Леонова / Jekaterina Jurjewna Leonova ; born April 23, 1987 in Volgograd , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a Russian dancer in the fields of standard and Latin American dances .

Life

Ekaterina Leonova has been dancing since she was ten. One of her early successes was the title of South Russian Youth Champion . After graduating from high school, from 2003 to 2007 she trained as a dance teacher at the State Institute for Art and Culture of the City of Volgograd , and from 2006 to 2008 also continued social education. From 2004 to 2007 she danced with Vladimir Schelomitsky. After she was elected Miss Wolgograd in 2008 , she moved to Cologne in 2008, learned German and from 2010 studied business administration at the University of Cologne (Bachelor 2014) and at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (Master 2018). In order to enable her to live in Germany after completing her studies, the broadcaster RTL gave her a job in its online editorial team.

From 2008 to 2014 she danced with Paul Lorenz with the amateurs for Germany. In 2012 the dance couple achieved their international breakthrough with the EU Cup and the World Cup.

Let's dance

In 2013 she started in the RTL show Let's Dance as Paul Janke 's dance partner and reached third place with him. In 2014 she left with dance partner Patrice Bouédibéla after the first round. In 2015 she danced with Matthias Steiner and suffered a supination trauma in the final . The couple took third place. In 2016 she left with the former beach volleyball player Julius Brink after the tenth round. Then she won three times in a row: 2017 with Gil Ofarim , 2018 with Ingolf Lück and 2019 with Pascal Hens . Also in 2019 she took first place in a special competition for professional dancers with Massimo Sinató .
