Sebastian Lege (born October 27, 1978 in Bremen ) is a German cook and well-known food expert from television.

origin

Lege was born in Bremen as the son of a plumber and a commercial clerk. His grandfather was Jochen Büttner from the comedian music band "Die Vier Naiven", which is well known in northern Germany. He grew up in Achim near Bremen.

Work as a cook

In 1994, at the age of 15, he began an apprenticeship as a chef in a hotel on Bremer Kreuz . Since the hotel kitchen mostly worked with ready-made products in his day , Lege decided to change the training company for the second year of training. He completed his remaining culinary training at the Parkhotel “Grüner Jäger” in Verden (Aller) .

After his apprenticeship in 1997, various positions as a cook followed in upscale restaurant and hotel kitchens, including in the Ratskeller of the Bremen town hall . In 2002 he became the youngest deputy head chef of the Arabella - Sheraton hotel chain to date .

In 2002 he moved to Düsseldorf, where he still lives today. Here he worked for almost four years in the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in the Medienhafen before he became kitchen director at the Japanese 5-star Hotel Nikko after further positions in top gastronomy . There he managed all four restaurants and an international kitchen crew of 38 mostly Asian employees.

In 2007 he began working as a freelance product developer in the food processing industry, while working as a chef. He taught himself his knowledge autodidactically . To this end, he read specialist books , studied documentation on the production of food in German and English and attended specialist conferences in the industry.

Television career

In 2011 Sebastian Lege started working as a trader for high-quality edible fish and high-class meat, which he sold to the star gastronomy . Here he met the chef Nelson Müller , who in 2012 was looking for a food specialist from the industry for his ZDFzeit format “How good is ...”. In the meantime, Lege has acted as a food expert in the ZDFzeit formats more than 25 times.

This was followed by further appearances as an expert in food and the like. a. at ProSieben in the Galileo program and in the morning magazine Volle Kanne . In February 2016, his first own ZDFzeit episode “The Tricks of the Food Industry” was broadcast in prime time. Due to the audience ratings , two more episodes were broadcast on ZDF in January 2017 . In April 2017, Lege had an appearance on the cooking show Kerners Köche , in August 2017 on Grill den Henssler and in November 2017 on Grill den Profi . Since November 2017, Lege can be seen in the series Bought, Cooked, Won on Kabel 1. In 2019 he hosted the quiz show Quiz with Bite together with Madita van Hülsen .
