The job of the equipment engineer is to develop and support the entire life cycle of the equipment including the associated manufacturing processes in the areas of planning, implementation and optimization in a production facility.

Equipment engineering accordingly combines key areas from the fields of mechatronics , process technology, plant engineering , automation technology and information technology .
