General

ERENET was founded in spring 2005 on the initiative of Professor Péter Szirmai (1947–2013), among others . It has its permanent secretariat at the Small Business Development Center of Corvinus University in Budapest , of which Szirmai was director. A branch for Southeast Europe is located in Belgrade at the Institute of Economic Sciences . ERENET has (2013) 192 academic members in 43 countries, including a. 40 members in Hungary. The scientific director is Antal Szabó, former UNECE regional advisor .

In addition to the promotion of research cooperation and the exchange of scientific work results, ERENET sees its task in providing political advice to the EU accession countries and the countries of the BSEC ( Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization ) on issues relating to the promotion of business start-ups and small and medium-sized companies. ERENET thus contributes to the dissemination and harmonization of academic entrepreneurship training in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe by exchanging best practice solutions.
