The Dr. Ernst-Günther Bröder Foundation is a Swiss foundation based in Lucerne that supports funding projects worldwide. It is based on the idea of Ernst-Günther Bröder, Honorary President of the European Investment Bank.
Foundation purpose
The purpose of the foundation is the worldwide promotion of charity and non-profit status, namely by providing assistance to people in need or distress, especially children and young people, by providing assistance to needy and sick people, as well as by training and promoting children and young people. The foundation grants support in the areas of education, development aid, and health and social affairs.
The foundation finances information and educational offers as well as measures that positively influence the behavior and development of children and young people in particular. The foundation also supports schools and small and medium-sized businesses in developing countries.
Benefactor
Bröder was born in Cologne in 1927. The graduate economist (University of Freiburg) began his professional career in 1956 at Bayer AG. After brief employment at the World Bank, he worked at the Reconstruction Loan Corporation from 1964 and was appointed to its board in 1974, where he acted as its spokesman from 1980.
From August 1984 to March 1993 he was President of the European Investment Bank (EIB).
