Harvest needle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The harvest needle was an award from the Free German Youth of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was donated in 1953. They were awarded for special achievements in supporting the socialist agriculture that was emerging in these years . The 36 mm high gold-plated badge shows a woman and a man in the middle, each carrying a bundle of wheat in their hands. This pair of people is surrounded by two upwardly curved branches of the ear, which are united in the colorfully enamelled FDJ symbol. The lower edge of the badge is formed by a billowing red enameled band on which the two-line inscription: STADT UND LAND / HAND IN HAND can be read. 1953 was also the year 1953 on the front , which was omitted in the following years.

In 1998 the harvest needle was presented in an exhibition of the industrial design collection .
