Narrative poem

Narrative poem is a generic term coined by Heinz Piontek in a 1964 anthology of contemporary poetry ( New German Narrative Poems ) . It is a term based on the English narrative poem , also not clearly determined by Piontek, for shorter modern versepic , which differs from the historical genre of the ballad with its traditionally sentimental or numinous subjects through a distancing, rational attitude and historical or even grotesque subjects wants to distinguish.
