In addition to the penal company, the educational company was a penal unit in the main camp of the Auschwitz concentration camp , which was formed in May 1941 and existed for only four months. Initially, the educational company was housed in block 10 and soon after in block 11 . As a mark on the prisoner's clothing , the angle had to be sewn on by the prisoners of the education company pointing upwards. In contrast to the punishment company, prisoners were assigned to the education company who had committed less serious “offenses” (for example “improper greetings” or “hands in pockets”). As a prisoner functionary , Emil Bednarek led the education company , among others .
