There is a knock at Vanya during the night

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It knocks at Wanja in der Nacht is a children's book by Tilde Michels and Reinhard Michl from 1985.

content

The book begins with the following rhymes, which lead right into the topic, and shows a small snow-covered hut in front of a fir forest with a smoking chimney:

Far away in a cold country
is Wanya's house on the edge of the forest

On an icy winter night, the rabbit, fox and bear knock one after the other on Wanja's door and ask to be admitted. Because the blizzard is so terrible, they swear that they will not harm each other and hold out all night. A sleeping picture shows a double-sided room panorama: In every corner another animal sleeps completely relaxed in the presence of the enemy.

The next day they all disappeared again, and only based on the various animal tracks that diverge in three directions, Vanya can be sure that he has not dreamed of visiting these three animals that are actually hostile to one another. He asks himself:

We really spent that night
together peacefully. -
What a blizzard like that does! "

comment

The book shows that hardship can make peaceful coexistence possible, and was awarded the Gustav Heinemann Peace Prize in 1986 .

In 2012 a translation of the book into Pennsylvania German was published by Michael Werner, editor of the newspaper Hiwwe wie Driwwe . The title here is "It globbt at Sammy's in the night".
