Tilde Michels
Tilde Michels (born February 3, 1920 in Frankfurt am Main ; † October 24, 2012 , maiden name Tilde Semler ) was a German writer and translator .
Life
Tilde Michels grew up in Frankfurt am Main . After graduating from high school, she completed a foreign language course in Hamburg and Munich , which she completed in 1940 with a translation exam. She then worked as a foreign language correspondent in Frankfurt am Main and Paris . She later lived as a freelance writer and translator in Munich.
Tilde Michels has written children's books , radio plays and television plays since the 1960s . Her books " Kleiner König Kalle Wirsch " (which was also broadcast in a television version as a puppet play by the Augsburger Puppenkiste ) and the picture book " It knocks at Vanya in the night " were particularly successful . Besides translated Michels children's books from English and French into German .
Tilde Michels received a. a. the following awards: 1986 the Gustav Heinemann Peace Prize , 1992 the Zurich Children's Book Prize and in 2001 an honorary prize from the Schwabing Art Prize .
