Winfried Opgenoorth

Winfried Opgenoorth (born June 20, 1939 in Düsseldorf ) is a German-Austrian illustrator .

Life

Opgenoorth completed an apprenticeship as a gravure retoucher . He studied graphics at the Werkkunstschule in Düsseldorf from 1958 to 1961 and worked in this profession for a considerable time. In 1972 he started his own business in Vienna , mainly illustrating school books. In 1979 he painted his first children's book, Hocus-Pocus in the Night , the text of which was put into verse by Mira Lobe . An intensive collaboration with Mira Lobe followed, but he also illustrated for Wawa Weisenberg, Wilhelm Pellert , Lene Mayer-Skumanz , Wolf Harranth , Tilde Michels , Burckhard Garbe, Friedl Hofbauer , Helmut Korherr , Gerda Anger-Schmidt , Wolfgang Wagerer, Ernst A. Ekker , Gerhard Hofer , Gabi Berger, Jutta Modler, Frauke Nahrgang , Heinz R. Unger , Georg Bydlinski , Christine Rettl, Ilse Reif-Schere, Andreas Findig , Folke Tegetthoff , Silvia Vigl, Marko Simsa , Anna Melach, Sigrid Laube .

He made numerous illustrations for the children's magazine Weite Welt der Steyler Missionare.

Opgenoorth is married to the children's book author Christine Rettl.
