Wilhelm Pellert

Wilhelm Pellert (born January 26, 1950 in Vienna ) is an Austrian writer and director . In addition to plays and radio plays, he writes novels, scripts and poems. As the director of the socially critical Jesus von Ottakring , he had a film success that received several awards in 1976.

Live and act

He started working for film in 1968 when he worked in Herbert Holba's ACTION film group , which ran a film documentation center, cinemas, a film club and a film magazine, among other things. He left this group in 1970 and founded the cabaret group Borobya in 1971 , which dealt with target group and street theater, and whose director and author he was.

In 1974, his folk play Jesus von Ottakring , written together with Helmut Korherr , premiered at the Vienna Volkstheater . In 1975 this play was filmed with Rudolf Prack and Hilde Sochor in the leading roles. His play Ulenspiegel was premiered in Basel , the monodrama Der Cascadeur was played in Saarbrücken , Berlin , Vienna, Bern and Eger .

1978 doctorate Wilhelm Pellert to Dr. phil. with the dissertation Neues Theater in der Scala (1948-1956) . In 1979 he received an annual scholarship for dramatic authors as well as the sponsorship award from the Ministry of Education and the Arts .

His children's books have been translated into Spanish, Greek and Albanian.

Wilhelm Pellert lives and works in Vienna. He is a member of the Austrian PEN Club and the Austrian Writers' Association .
