Gerald Szyszkowitz

Gerald Szyszkowitz (born July 22, 1938 in Graz ) is an Austrian television official, director , writer and painter .

Life

Gerald Szyszkowitz is the son of an insurance salesman and grew up in a middle-class family . After 1956 his final examination at the Academic Gymnasium in Graz had taken off, he began a study of theater studies and German studies at the University of Vienna . 1960 doctorate he there for the Doctor of Philosophy . After traveling around the world, Szyszkowitz worked from 1962 to 1968 as a director at various German theaters and from 1968 to 1972 as chief dramaturge at the Graz Schauspielhaus . He was then chief dramaturge of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation and from 1973 headed its main television department . Here for the ORF head of the TV game library book series . He held this position successfully until 1994; numerous of his productions received domestic foreign television awards . During this time, among others, " Die Alpensaga " (directed by Dieter Berner ), "Schöne Tage" and "The village on the border" (each directed by Fritz Lehner ) as well as "Eine paleblaue Frauenschrift" and "Radetzkymarsch" (each directed by Axel Corti ) . Gerald Szyszkowitz is a writer of plays , novels and short stories ; he also translates from French together with his wife Uta Szyszkowitz .

Gerald Szyszkowitz is a member of the Austrian PEN Club .
