Gerhard Hofer (born August 11, 1982 ) is an Austrian ski jumper , ski jumping technician and trainer.

Career

As a ski jumper

Hofer started from 2000 to 2003 as part of the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . He achieved his best results in January 2002 with second and third place in Ishpeming . Overall, he finished the 2001/02 season in 26th place overall. After he only reached 204th place overall in the following 2002/03 season, he ended his active ski jumping career.

As a technician

After retiring from 2003 to 2007, Hofer worked for the Austrian Ski Association . Until the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , he was part of the team of the Swiss Ski Association Swiss-Ski . As the responsible technician, he was part of the supervisory staff of Olympic champion Simon Ammann . After the Olympic Games, he left the Swiss Ski Association and planned to retire from ski jumping.

As early as March 2010, following offers from associations from Austria, Finland and Switzerland, he took over the post of chief technician and co-trainer at the Finnish National Association, previously held by Ville Kantee . After only a year he left the team and went to the Russian Federation. After the 2013 Summer Grand Prix he was released and retired to Australia for a few months .

For the Four Hills Tournament 2013/14 he switched back to the Swiss national team and took over the post of his former successor Fabian Ammann. Before that, he had supported the Japanese team at this tournament as a consultant in all matters relating to the new competition clothing.
