The Heinrich Ellermann publishing house , also known as ellermann - der Vorlese-Verlag , is an imprint for children's and young people's books from the Oetinger publishing group from Hamburg .

Publishing history

In 1934 Heinrich Ellermann founded the Heinrich Ellermann publishing house as a purely literary publishing house. There he gave his literary magazine Das Gedicht. Leaves out for poetry , focusing on modern poetry . Until the 1950s, however, he also moved the leather stockings series by James F. Cooper .

After the Second World War Heinrich Ellermann received one of the first publishing licenses, and among other things he published school books for the British zone of occupation . By the 1960s, the publishing house developed into a pure children's and youth book publisher.

In 1967 the publishing house was bought by Christa and Berthold Spangenberg and continued as part of the Nymphenburger publishing group . In 1992 Kösel-Verlag took over the Heinrich Ellermann publishing house and sold it to the Friedrich Oetinger publishing group in 1999 . Its founder Friedrich Oetinger was head of the children's book department at the Heinrich Ellermann publishing house from 1938 to 1946.

In 2002 the program concept changed and since then the publisher has concentrated on picture books and reading books. The program itself mainly publishes German-language authors, but anthologies by, for example, Cornelia Funke and Astrid Lindgren are also published.

His most successful publications include the series Wickie and the Strong Men by Runer Jonsson , Der kleine König , the Little Wingels , the MAXI picture book series and Petersson & Findus .
