The Nymphenburger Verlag , formerly Nymphenburger Verlagshandlung , was an independent book publisher from 1946 to 1974. In that year it was part of the Herbig publishing group and is now part of the Langen Müller Verlag . The publisher has published the cultural magazine Der Ruf and Klaus Mann's novel Mephisto , among others .

In 1946 Curt Vinz , Berthold Spangenberg and Gerhard Weiss founded the publishing house in Munich. In July 1946, Vinz had received the necessary license from the American occupation forces. In the same year they published a text edition of the judgment of the International Military Tribunal in the Nuremberg trial of the main war criminals . Further volumes on the Nuremberg Trials followed.

In 1960 Spangenberg took over the shares from Vinz. The Nymphenburg edition of Mephisto wrote German legal history. The publisher published the first edition of Klaus Mann's work, including the controversial novel. In 1971 the Federal Constitutional Court ruled against the publisher with the Mephisto decision and confirmed the publication ban imposed by the lower court.
