Folke Tegetthoff

Folke Tegetthoff (born February 13, 1954 as Folke Gillming in Graz ) is an Austrian writer and narrator.

Life

Folke Tegetthoff, who took his last name in memory of his relative, the Austrian Admiral Wilhelm von Tegetthoff , studied medicine and education for several semesters .

From 1977 to 1978 Tegetthoff stayed in Spain and then from 1978 to 1979 in Hamburg. In 1979 his first book ( The Beautiful Dragon ) was published; at the same time he made his first appearance as a storyteller. Since then, Tegetthoff has had more than 4,000 guest performances as a narrator on all continents. Guest appearances have taken him to the universities of Al-Ahzar in Cairo , University of Jerusalem , Sophia University in Tokyo and Stanford University in San Francisco.

In his fairy tales, Tegetthoff combines classic elements with a new fairy tale style. He writes for children as well as for young people, but his main focus is on fairy tales for adults. Tegetthoff lives with his wife Astrid and their four children in a former monastery in southern Styria and in Piran (Slovenia). He is the brother of the singer Jonny Hill .

Conceptionist

In June 1997 the idea of ​​creating the first theme park on the subject of hearing arose in the monastery garden of Sankt Georgen an der Stiefing : SounTopia - Land of Sound and Music . From then until 2002 Tegetthoff devoted himself exclusively to the realization of this project.

Awards

In 2014 he became the book favorite in the audio book category for Was ich alles kann. A musical fairytale journey around the world was awarded.

Others

In 1986, the world's first archive of his work was opened at Murray State University in Kentucky . Academic papers on his work have appeared in Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

In 1997 Tegetthoff founded Wonder World LLC , USA - Fantasy Company. This is responsible for the international marketing of his ideas and projects such as the theme park project: "SounTopia - Land of Sound and Music".

Tegetthoff is the organizer of the storytelling festival, fabelhaft! Niederösterreich , which has been taking place every year since 2007 (successor festival to Grazerzähle ).

In 2007 he designed the Linz Klangwolke with his concept "Six Tales of Time" .
