The Etapler Platz is a street name and a place in the city of Hückeswagen . At the beginning of the 21st century it developed into the new center of the city, replacing the Iceland Strait. The Etapler Platz got its name after Hückeswagen's twin town Étaples-sur-Mer , with which a partnership has existed since July 29, 1972. The Bahnhofstrasse, Peterstrasse, Goethestrasse, Am Schwarzen Weg and An der Wupperniederung all flow onto Etapler Platz.

In September 2002, a business and residential complex was inaugurated at Etapler Platz on the site of the former train station . An underground car park was also built.

In its current form, the Etapler Platz is divided into two due to the building arrangement. It is divided into the old station forecourt and the large parking lot at the Raiffeisenmarkt. At the end of 2009 there was a discussion about naming part of the square “Carola-Lepping-Platz” or “Alter Bahnhofsvorplatz”. The latter goes back to an application by the CDU Hückeswagen in 2003.

There are also important public institutions and companies at Etapler Platz: a large part of the city administration, the energy supplier BEW and the city's largest shops.

In 2017 the square with a total of 59 parking spaces will be completed.

Activities on and around the square

The space is also used for various events, for example the fair or the Hückeswagener Treff. The Etapler Platz is also the start and finish point of the citizens' bus .
