Eurobrass

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eurobrass ( spelling " eurobrass ") is a twelve-person brass ensemble and the project of the association of the same name, eurobrass eV - music that carries on, based in Königsfeld in the Black Forest .

The musicians at eurobrass are mainly professionals from the USA , Germany and other European countries. They meet once a year in summer on a voluntary basis for a three-week concert tour through Germany. During the tour, around 17 concert evenings and three church services will be organized by the ensemble. The line-up varies from year to year, as do the tour locations. For some years now, four trumpets, three horns, four trombones and a tuba have been used as standard. In some pieces, euphonies are also heard instead of the trumpets. The musical spectrum ranges from classical music across all music epochs to arrangements of modern Christian songs. At irregular intervals, a two-day CD production in a church is also included in the tour plan. So far, four eurobrass CDs have been created in which Friedrich Wilhelm Rödding was involved as sound engineer. The first eurobrass tours took place in the 1970s under the direction of Julian Bandy. Since 2009, one-week workshops have been held in the run-up to the tour, aimed at wind players of all ages and ability levels.

The euphonium soloist Angie Hunter from Ohio is in charge of the eurobrass ensemble . She was the first winner of the "Leonard Falcone International Euphonium-Tuba Competition". The co-direction is in the hands of Chris Woods, who also wrote and writes many arrangements especially for the ensemble.
