Euromil

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Euromil is a holding company founded in 1994 by the two Russian helicopter manufacturers Mil and Kazan Helicopters and the Franco-German company Eurocopter to develop, build and sell the Euromil Mi-38 ready for series production. The company is based in Moscow .

It was intended that Mil should carry out the development and flight tests. Eurocopter designed the cockpit, adapted the avionics and was responsible for the cabin equipment. Kazan was responsible for the manufacture of the cabin and the rotors as well as the finishing.

In June 2003 the Russian government insisted that Eurocopter should reduce its stake from 33% to 25%. Eurocopter then withdrew from the program and sold its shares to Russian buyers. After a change in the law in October 2004, Eurocopter would be able to re-enter.

In the meantime (6/2006) Thales has been commissioned to deliver the avionics.

The sales forecasts amount to 200 to 300 Mi-38 machines by 2015.
