European data protection day

The European Data Protection Day is a day of action for data protection launched on the initiative of the Council of Europe . It has been celebrated around January 28th every year since 2007 . This date was chosen because the European Data Protection Convention was signed on January 28, 1981 .

The aim of the European Data Protection Day is to sensitize the citizens of Europe to data protection. This should be done through the actions of all organizations entrusted with data protection.

In 2008, the United States and Canada joined the European Commission's initiative . Since then, Data Privacy Day has been celebrated in these countries at the same time as European Data Protection Day .
