The European Investment Fund (EIF), engl. European Investment Fund , based in Luxembourg City , was founded in 1994 . The main shareholders are the European Investment Bank (64%), the EU Commission (30%) and various European banks and financial institutions. The founding capital of the EIF was two billion euros.

The EIF specializes in venture capital financing and guarantees for small and medium-sized enterprises . The EIF does not grant financing directly to companies, but uses other intermediary institutions such as B. private banks.
