EURAP

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

EURAP (“European Register for Pregnancies Among Antiepileptic Drugs”) is an international project by independent research groups for the prospective recording of pregnancies with antiepileptic exposure . EURAP aims to compare the safety of the various antiepileptic drugs for the unborn child with regard to the frequency of congenital malformations and prenatal growth retardation . All women who are taking anti-epileptic drugs at the time of pregnancy should be included, regardless of whether the reason for treatment is epilepsy or another disease (e.g. migraine , mental illness ). Within the framework of the German Register for Pregnancies with Antiepileptic Drugs (" GRAP - German Registry of Antiepileptic Drugs and Pregnancy"), pregnant women suffering from epilepsy can also be registered without taking antiepileptic drugs.

As of December 1, 2013, a total of 325 doctors and clinics in Germany reported 2,188 pregnant patients receiving anti-epileptic therapy from a total of 325 doctors and clinics to the EURAP register.

Studies

EURAP is a purely observational study and has no influence on the therapy prescribed by the attending physician. The aim of the project is to collect data on risk factors for malformations in children, exposure to antiepileptic drugs during pregnancy, and the frequency and type of malformations in children.

The information required for the registry does not go beyond what is routinely recorded during pregnancy with anti-epileptic drugs, and no additional examinations or appointments are necessary.

brochure

EURAP publishes a brochure for those affected with the title: Epilepsy and the desire to have children and interesting facts about the European pregnancy register EURAP .
