European Debt Treaty Convention
The Rome Convention on the Law Applicable to Contractual Obligations of June 19, 1980, also known as the European Obligations Convention (EVÜ) , is a state treaty that was implemented in Germany through Art. 27 ff. EGBGB old version. The EVÜ is part of international private law . It applies directly in most of the EU countries. In an additional protocol, the ECJ is given responsibility for disputes of interpretation.
The EVÜ was replaced (except for Denmark) by the Regulation (EC) of the European Parliament and of the Council on the law applicable to contractual obligations ( Rome I ) of June 17, 2008, which applies to obligations entered into from December 17, 2009 . It remains valid in relation to Denmark.
