from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Customs Information Portal ( European Customs Information Portal / ECIP ) is a training and information portal of the Directorate General of the European Commission Taxation and Customs Union for companies that goods into the EU import and export of goods from the EU. It provides information about the rules in the EU import, export and transit business. In the first stage, the ECIP portal focuses on the security change to the Customs Code , which has been in force since July 1st, 2009.

The ECIP is intended to be an access point for information on the transport of goods in and out of the EU. The portal wants to explain the steps in the import, export and transit process. It also provides an overview of the legal framework for the procedures and covers information (political guidelines, databases, offers of assistance) from the Commission and the Member States.

In addition, entrepreneurs receive links to online business databases, such as the database on the Integrated Community Customs Tariff ( TARIC ) or on the VAT Information Exchange System (VIES). It is also possible to access e-learning courses and contact information from information points in the Member States.

ECIP was developed in cooperation with the Member States and with members of business associations.

The portal was closed on December 31, 2013 and will remain available as an archive from January 3, 2014.
