European Board of Ophthalmology

The European Board of Ophthalmology (EBO) is the European specialist society for ophthalmology .

It was founded in London in 1992 and is a subsidiary of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS). The company has set itself the task of harmonizing the standard for training in ophthalmology across Europe and ensuring its quality.

It awards the title “Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology” ( FEBO ) after passing a specialist examination that meets its standard. In some European countries this exam replaces the national specialist exam. This test is voluntary for a German specialist doctor.
