European Business Competence * License (short: EBC * L ; German: European Business Competence License ) defined a certification system that commercial skills with an internationally uniform catalog of learning objectives and proves that knowledge with an internationally standardized test. It emerged from an initiative of representatives from business , administration and science , which was founded in 2002 to disseminate core business knowledge and entrepreneurial thinking in Europe. The EBC * L has established itself in 31 countries and the exam can be taken in 24 languages.

target group

The certificate issued after a uniform test is an internationally recognized standard for practice-oriented economic training and further education. The offer is aimed at people who are or will be in business, but have not completed any business education or want to refresh their existing knowledge. Graduates are pupils, students, employees, job seekers, founders or entrepreneurs. According to a test report by Stiftung Warentest from March 2010, the European Business Driving License offers "practical core business knowledge for all non-businesspeople at all levels of the hierarchy."

Content

In terms of content, the European business license is divided into three levels:

  • Level A - general knowledge. This level deals with the topics of accounting , commercial law, cost accounting, key figures and corporate goals.
  • Level B - planning knowledge. The topics of business plan, marketing and sales, financial planning (budgeting) and investment and profitability calculations are taught.
  • Level C - leadership knowledge (since 2011). The final stage of the European Business Driving License is aimed at managers and covers the management of people, organizations and processes as well as the management of employees.

Since 2012, graduates have received the "EBCL Certified Manager" certificate after successfully passing exams A, B and C.

The content and standard of the exams has been approved by the Board of Trustees for Business Competence for Europe .
