from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Federation for Welding, Joining and Cutting (EWF) is the European association for welding, joining and cutting. It is a non-profit, technical and scientific association to which 31 welding technology associations or institutes belong as members from as many countries.

goals and tasks

The aim of the association is to standardize training in the field of welding and related processes, initially across Europe and later worldwide. He has done pioneering work in this area and based on the qualification system for welding technicians developed by the German Association for Welding Technology , he created a comprehensive training and examination system that is used by all member countries by creating relevant international standards.

In addition to the practical training of welders, this qualification system also describes the training of supervisory and management staff. These include the welding specialist, welding technician and welding engineer as well as the welding quality inspector.

In addition to the processing of metallic materials, plastics are also taken into account. In addition to the qualification system for people in the field of joining, cutting and coating, the European Association for Welding Technology also offers a system for the certification of the current knowledge of welding managers and for the certification of companies according to ISO 3834. The training of personnel in thermal spraying, underwater welding and structural bonding are covered as specialty areas.

history

The European Association for Welding Technology emerged from the European Council for Cooperation in Welding (ECCW) created in 1974 and was formally founded on January 1, 1992.
