Theodor Poeckh
Theodor Poeckh , also Pöckh (born April 20, 1839 in Braunschweig , † January 5, 1921 in Karlsruhe ), was a German painter .
Theodor Poeckh attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1860 and 1861 , where Hans Fredrik Gude was his teacher, and then the Munich Art Academy . There he was a student of Carl Theodor von Piloty . He worked in Munich for a few years and was then appointed to the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe (as successor to Ludwig des Coudres ) and took over the newly established natural class and the class of antiquities. In 1892 he retired from teaching for reasons of age.
His students included u. a. Christian Wilhelm Allers , Emil Schill , Ernst Schurth and Paul Schultze-Naumburg .
The Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe owns works by Poeckh (Inv.No. 1690, 1691 and 2018).
