Freund Allers - An Künstlerleben is a biography published in 1894 about the draftsman Christian Wilhelm Allers by Dr. Alexander Olinda ( pseudonym of the philologist, writer and editor Reinhold Schmidt , 1838–1909) with around 400 drawings by CW Allers, which is an essential source for the life of CW Allers. It also contains portraits of many prominent people at the time.

Dr. phil. Alexander Olinda (real name: Reinhold Christian Alexander Schmidt) was a long-time friend of CW Allers' parents in Hamburg, where he worked as editor-in-chief for the Hamburger Nachrichten . He made friends with CW Allers and accompanied them on several trips. Olinda later went to Neustadt an der Haardt to the Neue Bürgerzeitung and then to Strasbourg to the Strasbourg Citizens' Newspaper . When Allers had a villa built on Capri in 1893 , Olinda wrote his biography Freund Allers there with the support of Allers. His novels were The White Rose , In the Heart of Central America, The Tsarina's daughter , A modern Catiline . He chose his pseudonym after the Brazilian city of Olinda .

Freund Allers was published by Union Deutsche Verlagsgesellschaft at Christmas 1894 at a price of 20 marks in the 18 × 24 cm format with red color edging and weighing 1.3 kg. The cover picture includes a self-portrait by CW Allers showing him drawing.

The book is divided chronologically into 16 chapters on 366 pages, with the first two thirds of the book (the first eleven chapters) referring to the time when Allers was not a well-known artist. If the first chapters act accordingly in Hamburg or Brackede , later it goes to Karlsruhe, Kiel and all over the world. Freund Allers contains drawings by Allers from the works La bella Napoli , Backschisch , Unser Marine , The Mikado as well as a number of otherwise unpublished works.
