European Hernia Society

The European Hernia Society (EHS) is an association of medical professionals who specialize in abdominal wall surgery. The association was founded in 1979 by French doctors under the name GREPA (Groupe de Recherche et d'Etudes de la Paroi Abdominale), but was last changed to the current name in 1998 in order to underline a pan-European approach. The association has 19 national subgroups and a total of over 1100 members. She is instrumental in creating guidelines for the treatment of hernias .
