Spalatense Gospel Book

The Evangeliarium Spalatense is a Latin Gospels manuscript probably from the second half of the 8th century. The place of origin is unknown.

It contains the text of the four Gospels of the New Testament in the Vulgate version on 309 sheets of parchment in the format 32 × 24.2 cm . The last twelve sheets are missing. The text is written in semi- uncials in two columns in 21 lines, initials in capital letters.

The place of origin is believed to be in Italy or Dalmatia .

In 1890 the manuscript was found in Split Cathedral . Today it is in the archives of the cathedral chapter there.
