history

Its predecessor organization is the old friendship of the German Christian Student Association (DCSV). This was founded in 1895 and in 1900 the association of "old friends" of the DCSV was formed (thought according to the then common social model of an old manor). In 1905 the DCVSF, the German Christian Association of Student Women , was established, and in 1931 it was renamed DCSB, the German Christian Student Movement . Both student organizations were banned and dissolved by the Gestapo in 1938 .

After the Second World War , the old friendship of the Protestant student community in Germany was founded on August 10, 1947 as a resumption of work by the old friends of the DCSV . At the meeting of representatives of this old friendship in 1954 in Mülheim, however, the paradigm of the old gentlemen's association was abandoned and it was decided to make the “old friendship” an independent partner of the student communities. With this in mind, the Evangelical Academic Union was founded in Germany .
