Protestant women Switzerland

As an umbrella organization of women's associations and individual members, the Evangelical Women in Switzerland (EFS) represent the interests of around 40,000 women. They work in church, political and social structures for fair conditions and non-violent solutions to conflicts. They are based on the liberating foundations of the gospel and deal with feminist theologies.

The EFS are committed to women in all areas of life and especially to those in difficult circumstances. You stand up for the betterment of women in church and secular organizations. From the perspective of Protestant women, the EFS comment on federal bills and voting drafts and on current issues. With publications and training opportunities, they encourage women to take an active part in church and society.

The EFS are a member of the Swiss Climate Alliance .

history

In 1947 the Evangelical Women's Association of Switzerland was founded as an amalgamation of 19 Protestant women's associations and renamed in 2007. The aim at that time was to coordinate and represent the interests of Protestant women vis-à-vis the federal authorities. The EFS was also a counterweight to the relatively influential Swiss Catholic women's association SKF .
