subjects

The Swiss Climate Alliance is dedicated to the following main topics.

  • Divestment : By pushing off of investments in coal, oil and natural gas, investors are financial risks and the beneficiaries of the climate crisis disconnect.
  • Mobility: Traffic is the most serious climate factor in Switzerland.
  • Poverty: Supporting the people of the south who are losing their livelihood due to climate change.
  • Biodiversity : Climate change has left many species that are already threatened.
  • Fossil energies : Protecting the climate means abandoning the use of fossil energies completely in a few decades.
  • Arctic: There is hardly any other place in the world where climate change is more visible. Over 75 percent of Arctic sea ice has disappeared in the last 30 years.
  • Financing: The industrialized countries pledged financial support to the developing countries for climate protection and adaptation to climate change.
  • Justice: Not all people are equally responsible for global warming; 80% of the greenhouse gases emitted up to 1990 came from industrialized nations. In contrast, people in developing countries who have only marginally contributed to global warming are already suffering from its consequences.

Climate master plan

The Swiss Climate Alliance drew up its first climate master plan in 2006. After the agreement in Paris, a second climate master plan was drawn up, which was published in June 2016. This lists and justifies the most important demands on the Swiss government and companies.

public relation

The Climate Alliance regularly publishes statements on important climate issues and raises awareness through campaigns. There are a lot of press reports, especially on the campaign about pension funds and the National Bank. The Climate Alliance carries out its own rating of the climate compatibility of Swiss pension funds. This is based on existing publications on the climate compatibility of Swiss pension funds (such as the WWF pension fund rating), information from the websites of the individual pension funds and direct contacts between the Climate Alliance and the pension funds. A huge black CO 2 cloud was blown up in various places to indicate that the Swiss pension funds are also invested in fossil fuels and thus endanger both the climate and the security of pensions.
