Site plan Ewaldipark

The Ewaldipark is approximately 0.8 ha extensive public park in Dortmund district Aplerbeck .

Geographical location

The facility is located in Aplerbeck between Märtmannstrasse in the north and Rodenbergstrasse in the south. To the east of the complex is the Rodenbergtor residential care home , which opened at the beginning of 2008 . It is shown in the development plan AP206.

Emergence

The green area consists of parts of the former Aplerbecker "Gutes Pellinghof", in whose manor building the local police station was housed until 1980, and parts of the garden of the Renkhoff family of pharmacists. The manor building of the "Gut Pellinghof" had to give way to a new building for the Sparkasse. This area became accessible with the construction of the Aplerbeck bypass, the Rodenbergstrasse.

Naming

Based on the missionary brothers Weißer Ewald and Schwarzer Ewald , who were presumably murdered in Aplerbeck in the 7th century , the green area was named "Ewaldipark". To commemorate them, around 15,000 white and purple crocuses were planted in late autumn 2008.

particularities

During the landscaping work, an old buried spring was exposed again.
