Expansionism

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Expansionism is the conviction that one can only represent one's own interests in a meaningful way by expanding one's own sphere of influence. The term is applied to both nations and economic powers ( corporations , banks, etc.). Expansionism does not take into account the concerns of those who are ultimately affected by expansion efforts, or only takes it to a secondary extent, insofar as it is harmful or useful for their own interests.
