Experimental theater

Experimental theater is a general term for various movements in western theater that began in the 20th century in response to the then dominant assemblies that regulated the writing and production of the drama . It was also particularly against naturalism .

The term experimental theater is used more or less interchangeably with the term avant-garde theater .

A special, time-limited phase of experimental theater in the 20th century is identified as " Absurdes Theater " ("Theater of the Absurd"), but only a few dramatists refer to it as an independent designation.
