Exuperius of Bayeux
Exuperius of Bayeux ( French Spire or Soupir , Soupierre ; Breton Ispar , Dispar or Thois ; † around 405) is considered the first bishop of Bayeux in northern France . In some traditions, however, he is referred to as a disciple of St. Pope Clement of Rome († around 100) viewed. His feast day is August 1st.
Vita
A few miraculous reports of the healing of the sick and the casting out of devils by Exuperius have survived; However, nothing is known of any martyrdom suffered .
Adoration
Exuperius was worshiped by the people early on. During the time of the Viking raids (8th / 9th centuries) his bones were brought to Corbeil (south of Paris); the Saint-Spire cathedral there bears its patronage .
