The keg was a piece measure in Frankfurt am Main and Saxony . The size differentiated sheets according to the type of their material.

Frankfurt am Main

  • 1 keg = 300, also 450 sheets for white and tinned sheets
  • 1 keg = 450 sheets of iron and black sheets
  • 1 box of engl. Tinplate = 450 sheets

Saxony

Saxon sheets were packed in 450 plates or pieces. If trays were put together, 1 keg of 240 pound cross trays and two front or lining trays of 190 pounds were equal to a set . These sheets were 14 7/16 inches long and 10 7/16 inches wide. The thicker types of tinplate were referred to as cross sheets and the sheets of medium thickness with lining sheet.
