Prince all-god and singer demigod
Prince Ganzgott and Singer Halbgott is a story by Achim von Arnim , which was published in July 1818 in the journal “ Der Gesellschafter or Blätter für Geist und Herz ” in Berlin. In the summer of 1817, the author had a cure in Karlsbad stopped. Together with German princes, State Chancellor Hardenberg and even the King of Prussia , Arnim had been in very good company there on the Eger .

The weary wanderer, demigod of the evening, reaches Karlsbad. The singer is astonished when he is addressed in the bathroom with "Your highness hold your grace". The amazement grows when he is simply led into a cozy princely room in a hotel. Prince Ganzgott, the rightful resident, will soon enter. Demigod is lucky. The prince is pleased with his likeness and whistles back to his chamberlain. Finally the bored Prince has his adventure. He shares a room and bed with the stranger. The next morning, Demigod takes the initiative. All God no longer has to drink the hot water from the "underground cesspool". You go to a real café. The prince worries about the amazing resemblance. The singer answers boldly that two cases are possible. Either the singer's father had approached the princely mother or the princely father had come too close to the singer's mother. Although his father would have been in the prince's magnificent palace garden during his lifetime, he doesn't know anything about it. In any case, the doppelgangers get into business quickly. The singer should overcome the coldness of the childless princess with charm and appropriate singing. To do this, the singer in princely uniform climbs into the traveling coach with the chamberlain who has been inaugurated. With a rare acting talent, the singer completes the secret assignment with a sure instinct. Has become exactly warm in the moment when the princess, the prince whole God comes with the trolley therefore, buys into the princess and makes the woman happy. The princess, now also in the picture, distinguishes the demigod. As a reward, the singer is allowed to stay in the castle and say anything he thinks. Demigod is amazed. He has become a court jester. “Minister of State,” corrects the Princess. The singer understands - now he no longer sings in the "boarding theater", but plays comedy in the state theater.
The prince clears up his doubling. The imitation prince was born after the princely father had come too close to the singer's mother.
