The FC Klaipėda was a Lithuanian football club from Klaipeda . The young club currently plays in the II Lyga , the third Lithuanian league.
Club history
The club was founded in 2005 as FK Glestum and began playing in the third division. Two years later, Glestum rose to the second division. On August 19, 2009 the club was renamed FC Klaipėda. Since the number of participants in the A Lyga increased from eight to eleven due to a restructuring of the professional leagues, a fifth place was enough for the club to qualify for the 2010 season for the first division. There they were relegated in 2011 , after they couldn't keep the class both athletically and formally, as they didn't get a license for 2012. Instead, you were even transferred to the third division.
