The FC Mqabba was founded in 1957 and currently plays in the First Division , the second highest Maltese division. He comes from the small town of Mqabba in southwest Malta .
history
For the first time football was played in Mqabba, during the First World War , in the season 1915/1916 , this team then called itself “il-Mentna”. After the First World War, however, the enthusiasm for football in Mqabba died out again until 1944. In that year, a team was founded that consisted exclusively of soldiers, who played football until 1950. In 1950 the "Mqabba Ramblers" were founded. A competing association, the "Mqabba Hajduks", was founded as early as 1957. These two teams had a great rivalry until they were united to form FC Mqabba in 1961 . At first this club was called "Maqabba Hajduks FC". That is why the year 1957 is still considered the year of foundation and not 1961.
After the club was promoted to the Maltese Premier League in 2006/07 , relegation to the First Division was certain before the end of the season after only one season . Although you rose again in 2011, you have to go straight back down.
In the following season, FC Mqabba even rose to the Second Division , the third Maltese league. In the 2013/2014 season, however, FC Mqabba won the championship in the Second Division and has since played again in the First Division
Venue
The club plays its games in the Ta 'Qali Stadium , which is located in Ta' Qali and with a capacity of 17,000 it is the largest stadium in Malta. This is also the national stadium of Malta.
