US Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The US Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework ( FEAF ) provides primarily a procedural model for the development of an enterprise architecture . It also describes an architectural approach. It belongs to the group of Government and Agency Frameworks and is one of over fifty frameworks on the market.

development

The framework was developed by the American CIO Council (the American official Chief Information Officers ) and was published in 1999.

construction

Three main elements make up the content of the FEAF:

  1. The FEAF provides an architecture approach consisting of business , data , applications and technology architecture .
  2. The FEAF fills the top rows of the What , How and Where columns of the Zachman Framework matrix .
  3. The FEAF provides a procedural model for developing and updating an architecture description. This is defined in four steps: Consider stakeholders, define strategy, describe current and future architecture status.

application

The FEAF is used in the US federal agencies. It is based on parts of the Zachman Framework. But it is also the basis for other frameworks, for example for the framework of the National Institutes of Health .
