Fabio Coala
Fabio Coala is a Brazilian comic artist ,
After five years as a firefighter , he created the website Mentirinhas ("Little Lies"), where he has published webcomics with various characters since 2010 . One of the main characters is "O Monstro" ("The Monster"), a toy monster that helps children with problems by becoming a real monster for them. The monster's first printed graphic novel was published in 2013 after a successful crowdfunding campaign, and the following year the book won the Troféu HQ Mix (the most important Brazilian comic award) in the "Best Independent Publication" category. Coala's comic "Perfeição" ("Perfection") was also adapted as a short animated film by Jacob Frey and Markus Kranzler in 2014. The film, entitled The Present, won 77 awards from various film festivals and was highly acclaimed by critics.
