Marketing specialist

Certified specialist in marketing (until 2015 specialist salesman) is a publicly recognized degree at master's level , which is awarded after successfully completing function- related commercial advancement training in accordance with the Vocational Training Act. The nationwide test is based on the Regulation on the audit to recognized advanced education Certified Business Administrator for Marketing and Certified business administrator for marketing , which on 1 April 2015, the previously applicable regulation for the verification of recognized qualification Certified Fachkaufmann for Marketing / Areas tested clerk for marketing replaced . The examination is taken before the examination board of a Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK).

Areas of work and tasks

Certified marketing specialists are able to independently recognize changes and opportunities for the company on national and international markets and to plan, assess and implement marketing measures responsibly. These include, among others

  • Obtain, evaluate, forecast, present and moderate market information
  • Planning of strategies and projects in national and international marketing
  • Project and product management: Organizing, coordinating and implementing marketing strategies and projects in the company
  • Controlling and quality assurance in strategic and operational marketing

  • Use of marketing tools
  • Market research and marketing statistics
  • Legal aspects in marketing
  • Presentation, moderation and technical management of marketing projects

Training duration

Public and private educational institutions offer courses for the exams between three and 24 months, both full-time and part-time; However, participation in a course is not compulsory for admission to the examination.

Exam admission requirements

Anyone can be admitted to the examination before a Chamber of Commerce and Industry

  • a successfully passed final examination in a three-year commercial or administrative training occupation and then at least two years of professional experience or
  • a successfully passed final examination in another recognized commercial apprenticeship and at least three years of professional experience or
  • at least five years of professional experience

proves.

Examination and completion

The exam consists of a written and a practical part. After successfully completing all parts of the exam, the examining Chamber of Industry and Commerce awards the publicly recognized qualification as Certified Specialist for Marketing .
